The subject focuses on social history of Europe in the 20th Century. It examines the main processes that are characteristic for the advancement of European societies: the welfare state, life expectancy and with it related fertility and mortality rate, work, migration, family, education, the gap between rural and urban, and others. An overview of origins for each of these topics charcteristic for contemporary age is made. The topics are addressed across the entire geographical vertical, but at the same time, each topic is addressed in a specific geographic/temporal context depending on particular political and economic situaltion in certain parts of Europe of a certain period.
