1. Didactic and methodological characteristics of history lessons:
Development of didactics of history.
Structure, characteristics and use of history curricula, textbooks and manuals for elementary and secondary schools.

2. Alternative learning lessons:
Authentic tasks and activities. Extra-curricular activities at school and outside school. Field work. Modern teaching and learning approaches (gamification, multisensory learning, experiential learning, reverse learning and teaching …).

3. Assessment and grading:
Types of assessment and grading (written, oral, alternative). Bloom's and revised Bloom's taxonomies. Formative evaluation. (Alternative) assessment with rubrics.

4. History teacher:
Action research work and life-long learning.
Competences of a teacher. Traineeship, state teacher examination and school legislation. Class teacher, pedagogical documentation and inspection. Pupils with special needs and gifted pupils. Strategies for preventing inappropriate behaviour in history lessons.

5. Current questions in the 21st century:
European dimension, multiculturalism, multiperspectivity, sensitive topics, local history, civic education, global education, distance school...

Students visit schools and museums.
