Overview of the major exponents of European Realism (Stendhal, Balzac, Dickens, Flaubert, Turgenev, Dostoyevsky) and Naturalism (Zola, Ibsen, Hauptmann).
The basic forms and genres of the period.
Comparative analysis of motifs and themes.
Reception of European Realism and Naturalism by Slovenes. Distinctive features of Slovene Realism.
Analysis of selected literary texts.
